Why the blog?

We had a wonderful trip to Jamaica this past week and wanted to let everyone know what God was doing while we were there! We also wanted to say thank you to everyone who supported us and give you a glimpse of what is going on in Jamaica. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and stories about Jamaica as much as we enjoyed serving the people of Jamiaca spiritually and physically.

God is so good

I have to be completely honest and say that when I first heard about the trip to Jamaica I was thinking..."VACATION!!! WOO HOO!" I think that is anyones reaction when you hear the word "Jamaica". This however was not the case and I am so glad. It rained most of the trip so anyone who went to Jamaica that week hoping to lay out on the beach was sadly mistaken. I am so thankful that God didn't send me to Jamaica to rest or relax (even though I could use it) because what he had planned was so much better! I had wonderful opportunities to share my faith with others and share my knowledge of our bodies with sick people. Of all of the things we did on this trip the greatest was not even on the schedule. My husband and I have very crazy lives...we work and we go to school fulltime, we have a dog and we are planning on moving out of state next year and with all of these things on top of church, family, house work and trying to stay happily married our spiritual life as a couple has been slacking. This past week we were able to spend some amazing time together in prayer and in God's word just encouraging one another. I cant tell you how wonderful this was for me.

The People

I just have to say thank you to the people who where involved in this trip! We had an amazing time in Jamaica and it would not have been the same without you! We are so blessed to have experienced the people of Jamaica with you!

Waves

We had one free day that we planned on spending at the beach...but when the waves look like this they wont let you get in! We spent the afternoon shopping instead!

Praise the Lord for Tommy!

Tommy was an amazing man...an amazing bus driver! I honestly cannot believe that we didn't have a single wreck while we were there. The streets are crazy! The people walk in front, beside behind...all around the cars and the cars don't stop! I only saw a few stop lights and the paved roads are few and far between! We drove up mountains on rainy days like you wouldnt believe! Praise the Lord for Tommy!

Dunn's River Falls

This was an incredible waterfall. We had so much fun climbing and falling up it!
Thank you Lord for places like this!

Medical Clinic

The clinics turned out great! We saw about 300 people over a 3 day period. The people were literally lined up outside the door when we got there. I really enjoyed working with the doctors and the students from Criswell. It was such a blessing to see how much a weeks worth of Claritin or benedryl meant to the people. This was truly amazing for me to see how medicine can change peoples lives. As a future nurse I am more excited than ever to study and learn about caring for peoples physical needs!
